In 1965, four local institutions namely Vancouver Vocational Institute, Vancouver School of Art, Vancouver School Board's Night School and the King Edward Senior Matriculation Education Centre collaborated to form the largest and oldest community college in Vancouver, the Vancouver Community College. The college offers 78 certificate, 28 diploma and 3 bachelor's degree programs in both full-time and part-time mode in subjects ranging from design, makeup, baking, business and science along with special options for disabled students. The college receives about 26,000 students annually with international students making up to 8% of the population. Campus Life -The college has 3 active campuses which are easily accessible via Vancouver's SkyTrain. There are 36 different learning platforms and community outreach centers apart from the campuses. The Downtown Campus is based in Hamilton. The renowned Broadway campus is a seven storeyed 1,33,000 square feet building and is home to the health sciences training programs. The third campus was set up in 2014. The Heavy Metal Trades of Vancouver Community College is situated on this campus. VCC library is the heart of the college where students enhance their skills, learn, pursue and realize their goals.
